“A cold, dark and miserable winter ahead.”
That’s what I like about this site — always looking on the bright side!
Me and Waygone gonna pile up the firewood, and to hell with the dark side! As for me, I’m going to advance my watercolor painting through the winter, cook big pots of savoury soup, and get back on my exercise program.
After Trump gets elected, we should have 3 1/2 good years. Let those who have ears to hear…
HEY DEB 😎
Yep I hope this Winter is not hard BUT Ma Nature does as she wishes. Reading the first part I get the feeling that Cap is at that Point where I was at years ago…understanding FULLY that a Few want to control all no matter the destruction. BUT…Americans have one advantage the rest of the World does not have…Inherent Rights! 600 Million weapons, Billions of RDS of Ammo, 20-25 Million Veterans & MILLIONS of experienced Hunters. AND Americans are from Birth raised in a culture where being a Free Man (Women!) is a natural way of Life. Al.l I want is to grow old and sit in Peace. BUT…if I have to I will step forward and prove that Freedom is worth dying for…😔
Deb have a good Day Hon and I will sit here looking & loving my Wife if 38 + years!
an answer still hasn’t been provided to the question, ‘what happens when the sun doesn’t shine or the wind doesn’t blow?’
Part of the answer is when the wind doesn’t blow & it is extremely cold, wind generation equipped with blade and nacelle warming will become parasitic, leaching on the power grid. Throw another blanket on the baby please. Are they going to protect their citizens or the renewables?
“The sun just unleashed one of its largest solar explosions in recent years, temporarily causing a radio blackout on Earth and spitting out a coronal mass ejection that will likely collide with our planet this weekend.”
1987 -2024 (exception summer en winters between 2010-2012)
Hopefully the high and low pressure systems will like behave to before 1987 again
Heat sources 1 and 2 for Europe
Heat source 1 (is heat from the sun) that already becomes more powerful in March
this heat and the rising air thermals are already present in March,
and if a high pressure area hangs over it, it can already be 15-18 degrees.
Heat source 1 starts in March and ends after the summer period when the sun slowly becomes less powerful.
long warm or hot summers are caused by blocking high pressure areas with a wind direction over
a long distance between southeast and northeast, and a shortage of westerly and northwesterly winds with a long distance.
usually the winds are between west and north, but of short duration and the distance is also shorter so that the real cool sea air
cannot flow further into Europe, examples are the countries Spain Italy, and all countries around the Mediterranean Sea often there is no current little wind and change in the Mediterranean Sea due to blockades of large high pressure areas.
The cooling of heat source 1 in the autumn is also difficult, due to persistent blocking high pressure areas
that retain the remaining heat on the European continent, cool fresh sea air from the west and northwest
then has difficulty cooling Europe in Sept, Oct.
Because these high pressure blocks with a long distance often also tilt
to an air pressure pattern in vertical form, wind directions are released from the Sahara
and from the southeast of the Mediterranean Sea, so that it can still be 18 degrees in our regions in Oct.
Why is it so warm, because due to high pressure blocking no low pressure areas from the sea
can reach the continent with fresh westerly sea winds from the west/northwest.
Heat source 2 (is soft sea air from the Azores area)
This starts in December and can continue until mid-February.
Soft sea air from the Azores area west of Portugal is blown by a “”dominant south-westerly current”” over a “”long distance”” to west-north and north-east Europe, which prevents the Russian cold (the beast from the east) that is simply present every year
and certainly in central and eastern Russia from flowing to Europe.
Crucial high pressure positions are missing during the winter period, and therefore
the transport of real Russian cold that we knew from the old 60s/70s/80s
cannot be transported to Europe, sometimes some cold fingers that bring Europe then 5-9 days
at most some frost and some snow and then it stops.
Heat sources 1 and 2
1 Lack of “short distance” westerly/northwesterly winds in summer (hence hot warm summers)
2 Dominant “long distance” southwesterly airflow in winter (hence very mild to mild winters)
Please bring it on, we only had 3 weeks of solid ice for ice fishing. Nothing better than panfish, walleye and even bass through the ice. Cold temps cleans the meat.
