The world acting out of misguided panic over planetary over heating, installed flawed wind generation equipment. Replacing that mistake with flawed nuclear power plant designs is no improvement. They need to swallow their pride
and admit there is an epic cold period at the doorstep.
Nuclear power plants should be designed with some type of convertible roof over the cooling channels so the channels and water inlets never freeze up. I found two examples of cold weather nuclear power plant cold weather shutdowns. There are more. All existing nuclear power plants should be retrofitted with a cooling channel temperature control system. Can that happen when we have leaders that don’t understand the nature of the emergency we face?

Thanks for that info. I did not know that about nuclear power plants. But as long as the misguided (religion) of global warming is the main narrative, we have to deal with what it is. It might be wise to have at least some solar with battery storage on the houses to run LP gas heaters blowers or to keep the gas valves open if connected to the grid. Whatever. #2 Very interesting about France with their sudden change in course to nuclear energy generation. Solar and wind power are just not viable for national power generation. They may be viable in specific small local individual home owner situations, but barely. For countries nuclear makes sense, but then so does coal, oil, and natural gas, depending upon availability and costs. As you noted, the failing country of China is going for coal, with over 1000 huge coal fired plants coming on line in 2024. Same with India, but they are not a failing economy, but a smart expanding economy.
Fracne, forty years ago, built 56 nuclear reactors in 15 years and are adding up to 14 more….why has France not yet been booted from the EU for not wholesale adopting solar & wind power?
Without France the whole EU would likely collapse so they can do what they like without fear of repercussions. Hopefully the EU is on it’s last legs anyway, opposition is growing in most wealthier countries as people realise a lot of the green madness comes from Brussels. The EU are pushing their luck trying to impose immigration quotas and woke nonsense on countries like Poland and Hungary. Most people in these countries still support membership as less wealthy Eastern European countries receive a lot of subsidies, but they’ll only put up with so much even in return for massive amounts of cash.
