While South America and western Russia are shivering, Western Europe is shvitzing…and we’re only hearing mainly about the latter in the mainstream media.
If we’re so frickin’ brilliant that we can make machines that think (supposedly) then why can’t we find a method for moving excess heat to places that have problems with cold? I would be more than happy to donate my 90+F to some poor orchard owner shivering in his boots! If we can send NG through pipelines, why not set up giant heat pumps to pump hot air. Send it up to Canada. Or better yet, send some of their cold air down here. They’re not shy about sending it down here in winter!
Somebody needs to think seriously about terraforming the Earth. (And yes, I know what terraforming means.) Why waste our energy on other planets? We could all be a lot more comfortable if we tried. And after that, how about we do something about extinctifying ticks, chiggers, mosquitoes and roaches? If we can kill off the dodo and the passenger pigeon…the human race has its priorities all wonky!
If you paint the surroundings with ultra-white paint, the temperature drops:
Tests carried out by researchers at Purdue University on their “ultra-white” paint showed it reflected more than 98% of sunlight.
That suggests, the scientists say, that it could help save energy and fight climate change. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-56749105
We are now missing three minutes of daylight. Keep an eye on Moffin — he’s up to something.
