Cap hope your Dad is fine and THANKS for working hard to get facts out to us all.
Hi Deb we got 3″ snow last nite even after the NWS stated that we would get a TRACE!
Stay warm and be good…if you can!๐๐๐
Although parts of California are pretty chilly for the time of year they’ve had very little precipitation. The Sierra Nevada snow pack is well below average for mid December and some of the ski resorts are relying on snow making to open a lot of their runs. This looks like changing in the near future with the latest gfs model run predicting over 100 inches of snow before the end of the year and an amazing 200 inches for the Olympic Peninsular in Washington State.
Solar radiation TSI has been increasing until the 1960s. Since then, solar radiation has been at its peak and is now starting to decline.
Are we heading towards a new ice age as solar radiation begins to decline?:
Believe what Cap is showing us. The cold is coming. Due note that the meridional jet stream warm weather is pulled up from the tropics to certain regions even as the cold is becoming serious in other regions. Here in the NW it is relatively warm for mid December causing very high snow levels. It is just a matter of time before the meridional jet stream shifts allowing the cold to descend in our region. Be prepared.

Next week back up to 60F I don’t get it.
I don’t get much opportunity to be bad, either.
A bit of the cold blast will make it down to N Alabama tomorrow through Monday. It’s mid-December, not even January yet.
