Here is a good video of an intelligent sort of well spoken man that finally realizes the elites are throwing us under the bus, wiping us out, and looting our possessions all with the people in government that you trust, assisting in every way possible. Trump included.
After a very cold 7-10 days in early January the UK had at least 10 days of well above average temperatures so the CET for the month as a whole is going to be pretty average.
The “polar vortex” ( ie: winter) can come back If it wants to. My forecast is for 7 days in the high 40’s or higher. Whatever winter we get, we’ve already had a lot more spring this winter than we have any right to expect.
I live in Ontario near Georgian Bay. When I moved here in 1978, winters were hard and awesome with huge snowfalls. Gradually, they became milder. This year feels like 1978. There are now snowdrifts almost to the top of the stop sign.
Central Alberta: +3 overnight and +6 yesterday. The lake is still frozen enough to drive a pickup on, but it is looking bad (again) for the local Winter Festival. This will be the third year in a row the snowmobile drag races are cancelled. Last year in January we saw -43 C, twice. A metre of ice. That was decent.
California lawmakers, led by eco-zealots like State Senator Scott Wiener, are now pushing to let wildfire victims sue oil companies for damages
This is the kind of leadership they have in California. With the state burning down & up, probably due to their negligence they start screaming BoogeyMan.
Given what many Californians believe about global warming I reckon a jury would be more likely than not to award damages to wildfire victims and an activist judge could well make oil companies pay billions or even tens of billions of dollars in a class action lawsuit. Hopefully the oil companies would challenge the judgement all the way to the US supreme court and end up not having to pay a cent.
Even at the risk of paying higher prices for fuel if by some chance California fire victims get some type of award from the oil companies. I would still like to see this battle move into the courts. Evidence and not superstition. The AGW crowd better show up with something better than Michale Mann & Bill Nye the science guy. Then there is the possibility of counter suites by the oil industry & other states. I say bring it on.
VDH almost always has things right and presents the facts in a compelling manner. One of my favorite speakers, and he is dead on regarding California. Climate Change has become the escape hatch for poor mismanagement escapees to avoid responsibility for their very foolish decisions. The LA fires display the full picture very clearly.
Winter is barely a third over. Enjoy any warmth you may receive. We should be happy it is the peak of the Solar Maximum when warm temperature are possible. But prepare for cold weather.

Interesting.
Hi Cap
It would be interesting to see how the CET ends up for January
It’s been a cold month, for sure.
The Met Office hasn’t updated the CET since Jan 20…? Probably nothing. 😉

Impressive for a Solar peak.
Sadly some type of Solar minimum is on the horizon.
UAH GT went up last solar minimum before Tonga.
2015 the sunspots went away and it got record hot El Nino, see that spike on UAH GT.
The other spike on the UAH GT chart in 2020 in solar minimum, before Tonga, it went up twice.

The label is more properly “Bill Nye the not-a-scientist guy.”
Nope. The oil companies say…You don’t want oil…we are closing production NOW and will not sell any in California PERIOD. Then they all leave.
