I woke up to 76F and 72%H again this morning. By 9am it will be in the mid 80’s. Supposed to reach around 90F every day for the next week.
I watch snow falling on my phone -it cools me off a little. Summer is definitely here. Prob 2.5 months before it breaks. Now I’m trapped inside as surely as I am in winter. I won’t say I hate Missouri because it has its good points, but I surely hate the climate here. The older I get, the harder it is to take.
But at least there’s oodles and gobs of trees here, so no worries about freezing to death in winter.❄️🌳🪓

I`ve been checking the ice extent in the Artic for 6 years now (directly on GFS) and each year is higher and higher. So Cap, does we have trust the graphics from Noaa on the right side of the screen? There is not correlation with the reality or at least with the ice extent that GFS is showing…
If the ice is increasing, why is the Beaufort Gyre melting? I’m beginning to develop cognitive dissonance over this global warming/global cooling thing.
Early potato harvest from my earth box planted according to Deb a little bit late this spring and maybe harvested a little bit early.
The earth box cradle is outside. About 50/50 shade and sun. Too much rain and wind but good results anyway.
My soil mixture was 50% mold leaf compost and 50% potting mix. I use microlife fertilizer, bone & blood meal plus sulfur pellets. No dolomite lime.
The results were encouraging enough
to press on with fully planting my potato
Hive by mid August for a fall harvest.
I haven’t looked at lumber prices since covid they went way beyond stupid. I’m trying to grow the most food for the least cost I bought one yard of topsoil two years ago and it already paid for itself so now I get almost free veggies.

Late Spring snow normal La Nina pattern. Atmospheric river across the Pacific O going into a Low pressure area over Hudson Bay Canada. Record heat going up the East Coast cooler air down the West Coast around High pressure area.

NW US cooler weather won’t fix our sub par snowpack. The Olympic Mtns behind my house are down to zero percent of normal and Summer doesn’t start till Thursday.
Upper Columbia River basin area is down to nine percent. We are fooked. The very very last thing I’m worried aboooot is it being cold this Summer from no solar flares.
