“Environment Canada issued a winter weather travel advisory Tuesday, warning of settling snow and icy, slippery conditions as a band of lake-effect flakes swept in from Georgian Bay.”
This is where I live. The weather reports are totally alarmist It was just normal winter driving: a bit of snow and wind. Front wheel drive and snow tires make it easy. One time they gave a heavy snowfall warning: 10cm. That is 4″. Insane.
When my children were in school 25 years ago, there may have been 3 or 4 snow days a year. Now it is 15 times a year or more even though the winters are now wimpy (except this year!).
A foot of new snow here yesterday in the mountains which is normal. Another storm tomorrow with more snow up there, that’s normal. It snows up there in May too. A strong La Nina it will snow in July up there.
N Cascade Highway is still closed for Winter, they won’t start digging out anytime soon which is normal. https://wsdot.com/travel/real-time/mountainpasses/north-cascade-hwy
Denver Colorado is 200 feet lower in elevation than N Cascade Highway.
Reno Nevada is higher in elevation than N Cascade Highway.
Lake Tahoe Cali is 800 feet higher than N Cascade Highway. The base of the ski areas at Tahoe are above N Cascade Hwy just like Colorado.
They don’t put the chairs on the Mt Hood Oregon top ski lift until Summer because the wind would rip the cable off the towers. Too much wind resistance. They have had 518 inches this year which is below ave. https://www.timberlinelodge.com/conditions https://www.timberlinelodge.com/mountain/historical-snow-data
Well if I understand correctly the Politicians won’t let you use stud OR Chains! Now that is destructive cuz heavy snow and Recovery units cant move easily thus slowing the whole system down. Heck here in KY some of us have chains just in case AND we used Studded Mud/Snow tires. But that’s what happens when Politicians rule OVER you.
I have 4 studded tires and tire chains for my 4X4 truck and it’s legal to use them. There’s no mountains tall enough in KY to build ski lifts on. Today I can drive to the ocean and go deep sea fishing or go ski up in the mountains of which you have neither.
The mountain passes here require semi trucks and everybody else to chain up all the time. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Semi trucks won’t make it over the mountains without chains on. Electric trucks don’t have the power. Interstate highways through mountain passes is how good get moved. Diesel 18 wheelers with tire chains when needed. Laws of gravity in the land of the free.
Moscow only had 4 inches of snow in January? Almost a total bust, good thang they had that flurry. Nothing like the good old days when there was lots of snow, EU has had warm Winters for years.
The mild winters in EU were just in western Europe in general, France, Spain and Portugal. Just in 2015-2016 Scandinavia has also mild winters, but in general, when is milder in western europe is colder and harder in eastern and southeastern Europe. The hard winters in Spain “moved” to Grece and Turkey, In Belgium we’re recovering values from the 60’s-90’s in terms of cold and rain (for example)
In Spain is raining more in places where were dry the last 10-15 years and before were not….And so on…Just going up and down…
Human being became so much arrogant to determine how the Nature has to do the things, wich is normal and wich is not…

518″ is a crappy year for Mt Baker, less than half of record. Just a normal year.
