Good Day Cap, our mean temperature here yesterday was 8 C. The wind was constantly gusting in excess of 60 km/hr. It was a “soup day”. For sure a warm meal. It was a “mean and nasty” day being so cold and the wind forcing that bite into every nook and cranny.

Our climate is becoming more chaotic bringing all forms of devastating weather. All of this weather, cold and hot, drought and flooding, finds its basis in cold air. I am really enjoying the journey with Cap Allon et el. Here living 150 miles east of the Rocky Mountains, we have a barrier-wall that impacts our weather over here on the rolling-prairies of Central Alberta. We don’t typically get a lot of snow, but OoooEeee it can get cold. We easily get into the -50’s C (-60’s F), when you add the wind blowing. When this GSM gets into serious hibernation like in the 17th century, life is going to get difficult to live. You mention physical preparation for the times ahead, within this generation. Might I suggest a “True” novel based upon the life of an RCMP officer in 1907 – “Mrs. Mike” by Benedict & Nancy Freedman. (SBN 425-02903-4) He lived, serving the people, east of Peace River, Alberta in an area north of the mighty Peace River at the crossing called Taylor, BC. There were no roads after the train-tracks stopped at Peace River (the town), Alberta. From there you travelled up river in the summer and by dog-sled in the winter to his station in the Taylor area. The reason I suggest this book is the reality of living in the bitter cold of winter with NO modern conveniences. It is a great read, although tragic at times. The story is a good revelation of what it actual took to live when it is so cold and the climate is so vicious. Mr. Mike is the law, the judge, the doctor, the dentist….he was everyone to the native folks and trappers in this area. The time of Mr. Mike’s service was 56.09 degrees North and 120.08 degree West, and during the time of climbing out of the Dalton Minimum, and Maunder Minimum.

We’re having an actual fall here this year. Warm and mostly dry. I’ve been able to catch up on some of my outside work that went by the wayside during the years before my heart operation. Unfortunately, I fell and bruised a rib. On the Internet, it says that will take 4-6 weeks to heal. By then it will be winter. It’s all part of the “So you thought you were going to get ahead, did you?” theme of my life.
I’ll just have to take it easy while doing landscaping, carpentry and cutting firewood. Right.🤔

Mid seventies last week in Durban S Africa shown on the snow map above, warmer than ave following the cold snap. The warm times returned and melted the snow in the area as shown on the Windy snow depth map. Zoom out hit temp map look at Africa hot no cold times returning 105F today on the N Coast.
