The previous record in the village of Saskylakh (-44.9°C) was recorded in 1972, the previous extreme on Yubileynaya (-42.8°C) took place in even more distant 1949.
According to forecasts, in the coming days, light snow is expected in places in the region, in the Neryungri district the northwest wind will increase to 18 m / s, a blizzard. The temperature at night in the central regions is -25..-30 degrees, with clearing -35..-40, in the west and Kolyma with snow -20..-25, in the northeast, in the north-west -40..-45, with clearings in the lowlands up to -48 degrees.
