10 Thoughts to “Russia Forecast -60C (-76F) As Record Cold Intensifies; Munich Reports -18.1C (-0.6F); Heavy Snow Pounds Western U.S.; + Australia’s Summer Chills”
Regarding Canada’s north, it has been mild for the last 3 weeks from Whitehorse to Iqaluit. Can we expect this to change starting in the next few weeks? Thanks.
Peter, El Niño ’ is having a large impact here in Central Alberta. I worked outside for most of my working years. It is quite normal to have -20C to -30C by December 1, and the last nice fall weather disappearing by November 10. But El Niño this year has kept us here, dry and tepid. I would imagine watching the strength of El Niño will show you just how long this abnormal weather will continue. The weather that Russia is experiencing is just one shift of the jet-stream away from us here in Western Canada and the north.
Thanks Jim. I’ll figure out how to watch the “strength of El Niño”. I was expecting, from some earlier posts, that El Niño may be less of an event this year, with our cold October.
Thank you Cap. Shared the highlights with my children and grandchildren. They are oblivious to GSM, but I am trying. We live just an hour from the city of Edmonton. My one son was asking me if they will be getting snow this winter as he moves snow in parking lots in the winter. I explained to him what is happening because of GSM/the Jetstream/El Nino’.
Jim
Global Warming is very much like a pagan religion. Trying to convince someone who believes in GW is problematic. You just need to show them the facts, but not press it to hard, but more importantly you need to act on your own belief. Prepare for the cold as best you can.
It’s ironic that electric cars have been pushed so hard that a lot of virtuous people bought them. Now they sit uselessly in garage because the Danes government that incentivized people now won’t allow them to be charged. Intentional?
Winters coming

Peter.
I just do not think electric cars will make it safe enough to get caught in a sudden onslaught blizzard. Just my thought. That’s all.

Wise counsel, Allen.

I sure hope the EVs in those areas have battery heaters.
