We received an inch of global warming niceness last night. Another inch is expected tonight. Snow this late in February is very rare in Snoqualmie, WA, 30-miles east of Seattle. Metrological winter usually ends in mid-February.
Trash pickup is Tuesday. Probably not going to happen if there’s even a 1/4-inch of snow on the ground.
So, I have this question about Sunspot AR35990. This should hit Earth then in several days? Last week Internet and cell phones in Western North Carolina were sorta wonky. Wonderful. Thanks for keeping us informed, Cap. I appreciate it.
(also revealed a previously unknown mechanism behind the phenomenon which shows that the impact of the Sun on the Earth’s climate is far greater than previously assumed.)
I spent a life time troubleshooting in the electronics industry. When in a debate like global warming verses global cooling, with both sides making good points and still the answer seems to be uncertain, elusive and not clarified. Looking at the extreme cases gives you the correct analysis.
The most powerful influence on earths temperature by a huge margin is the background temperature of space. The sun is nothing but a small pinprick in a vast ocean of cold. If the sun totally ceased to create heat the earth would be a block of ice approaching absolute zero. With the sun struggling to warm the planet as it is, any downturn in Total Solar Irradiance will result in cooling. If we are in fact approaching a Grand Solar Minimum, expect a cooling trend for the duration.
The concept of ‘space’ is a modern replacement for aether. ‘Space’ is permeated by fields that are both cause and effect of interference – such as at some intensities results in arc mode plasma discharge – which is not merely the visible light spectra, but the full range of EMF – which may be referred to as cosmic rays, Solar particles or Solar wind. The Plasmasphere of the Sun extends way past Pluto. Earth is nested in this ‘body’ of the Sun and in constant exchange and balancing of charge.
The use of hot and cold is a local convenience relative to human practicalities. Radiative energies are not quantifiable in such terms.
The Earth’s ‘magnetosphere’ (plasmasphere) is weak as a result of Solar minimum. This makes Earth significantly more affected by Solar & Cosmic radiation/particles from CME’s or Solar storms that would otherwise be considered not remarkable.
Earth ‘changes’ are then an expression of a shifting terrain – perhaps along with evolutionary shifts? (Often following catstrophe – which derives from Star/Planet misalignment).
Yes the predicted trend relative to Solar Minimum would be cooling period.
But all predictions are based on the past – which may not be as predictable as we want to believe due to periodic shifts occurring on very long cycles or seemingly random ‘intrusions’ of unaccountable variables.
Live this day well!
It is -17c in Calgary Alberta this morning. How much more warming can we withstand?
My thoughts re global warming:
Is methane really a fossil fuel when Saturn’s moon Titan literally has ocans of it.
Actually there is a theory to the effect that methane is primordial. Thomas gold wrote “The Deep Hot Biosphere” many years ago. I felt it was convincing. Around the world there are massive deposits of methane hydrate at depth. It appears to be leaking out from under the continents. For myself, as a chemist, I felt there was more to the story of coal formation than simply biomass. The Key for me is that all the teratons of limestone on the planet all came from atmospheric carbon via sea organisms. The CO2 had to come from somewhere, the atmospheric tonnage is minuscule by comparison. My bet has always been primordial methane. The book has been reissued. “The Deep Hot Biosphere, the myth of fossil fuels”, with Freeman Dyson. Amazon has it. If Freeman Dyson endorses the idea now, that is very impressive
Suggest you read the book of Thomas Gold about this subject : The deep hot biosphere . It is proving without a doubt that natural gas and crude oil are not remnants of biological origin . It is exactly the other way around they are formed as organic chemicals within the chemical soup beneath the mantle of the earth now , thousands of years ago and will be in the future taking care of an abundance of nearly limitless energy on this earth contrary to the global warminfo mantra and in stark contrast with the musings of WEF ,UN , The banking-cabals and the globalists . In fact we are so tremendusly rich with an abundance of energy that the supercapitalists are trying to hide and take away from us.

Well said. Good visual, “a pin prick of heat in a sea of cold”.

Heat wave from X flares had a cold front.

Cyclone off Japan now at 3am ‘ere wind gusting 85mph waves 37 feet every 12 seconds. Cyclone pulling cold air down off the mainland. Heat driven cyclone.
That cyclone last week off Kamchatka pulled this cyclone up from the Tropics. 120mph right off the volcanos from solar flares. That one is making it snow here now, I’m in the mix. Big storm NW US Wednesday from Kamchatka with lots of
mountain snow forecast.

I just checked the Electron Chart on Space Weather News, lowest reading on there, it spiked down instead of up from the bottom. WT…? Xray flux had a down spike too. CRs are stable. Flares quieted down after the two alignments last week.
