Difficult times are coming. Do you think this coming winter in the Northeast USA will be harsh because of all the volcanic particulates that have been ejected into the atmosphere over the past few years ???
Well Folks it looks like Texas is getting hit AGAIN. 130 +- dead and 150+ to go. Temps here in Metcalfe County KY are 10-15 F cooler today and we got ‘some’ rain the other day. We went from rain every other day to typical late July/August Summer dry. So I think this Winter may be a DOOZY! Be safe y’all and DEMAND that President Trump release the Epstein files NOW!!!
Be safe and hunker down…
Nuclear power only operates at a constant output 24/7, coal and gas fired power stations are more efficient when run at a constant output so trying to shift some electricity use off peak to reduce changes in demand during a 24 hour period makes sense even without renewables. The problem is that hourly pricing requires smart meters which give electricity providers the ability to reduce supply to homes fitted with them or even cut off the supply for a period of time if they think someone is using “too much”. The UK government wants every home to have a smart meter and electricity companies bombard people with letters telling them how wonderful they are and how they can save you money, I’ve probably ignored at least 20-25 such letters. A lot of people have fallen for it and so far the scheme has cost £6billion, I’m not sure if this has been added to everyone’s bills or paid for from our taxes.
Max Planck, the great German physicist who discovered quantum mechanics cut his teeth on the greenhouse effect. The message his work shows is that doubling CO2 from 400ppm to 800ppm makes almost no difference.
So why all this push to Nett Zero and the use of unreliable energy sources for baseload electricity.
Clean coal (i.e. remove the Mercury, Sulphides and Nitrous Oxides), Gas, Nuclear and of course Hydro if you have the luxury of large water reserves e.g. Canada, are ideal for baseload.
The introduction of wind and solar into the electricity network introduce operational complexities to maintain the stability of the supply, and of course you need many large capacitors just in case you have a period of limited wind/sun!!
The lack of demand outside of peak times enables energy hungry industries like aluminium, steel, and most businesses that maintain freezers 24×7, to have access to very cheap electricity.
You only need to look at the electricity prices across the globe and realise why China, India and a few others have a moderate advantage over the US (not for too long if Trump has his way) and a massive advantage over countries like Australia, UK, Germany (as they go down the path to Nett Zero…or is that over the cliff!!)
I’m in Australia and last week I got a letter from my electricity provider that they will reduce the feed-in tariff from solar panels, because… there is too much solar power on sunny days. It’s absolutely ridiculous. We got the solar panels 12 years ago. Had I known then what I know now they wouldn’t have been installed.

So much for “snow is a thing of the past in Siberia” LOL
Kenneth- I see that you have lately extended your purview. Congratulations!👏🎉

I never went the solar panel route. I have an all-in green cousin. The only reason he doesn’t have them is his sensible wife won’t let him. lol
