Third summer in a row without “Canicule” in Belgium. Just 3 days in the beginning of the summer and 2-3 days forecasted for the next week, but so far away of the classical 2 weeks of high pressure and hot which is called “Canicule” (Roman empire heritage).

I never worry about the GFS with cyclone predictions beyond 5 or 6 days. They always spin up phantom storms starting in June already that never materialize and anything else beyond 6 days is highly unreliable. The tropical tidbits GFS latest run this morning shows only one possible cyclone well offshore the mid Atlantic and heading out to sea after mid August. The earlier runs had one heading for Texas, but no longer show that solution. As of Aug.7th, no hurricanes have yet developed in the Atlantic this season. All have been weak and short lived. The same can be said about the Pacific since July. Cooler SST’s are a major factor.
My personal opinion is that Dirk Pitt replaced him. Kenneth and I have been commenting on the same two websites for at least ten years, and until a very short time ago, I don’t think he ever posted a comment that didn’t have the word “snow” in it.

Kenneth P Lund had mainly one thing to say the whole time we were commenting on IAN, and that is to the effect that the global warming morons kept telling us that children wouldn’t know what snow looked like, while meanwhile the snow is piling up around our ears.
I can’t remember his exact words, I’m sure he was nicer than me and didn’t say morons, but his message was always the same. Once in awhile he posted snow forecasts in the mountains out West. But it was ALWAYS about snow, not hurricanes.

The sunspot count went up in July and there’s 12 sunspots now but no big flares just M class.
SO2 from Kamchatka mag 8.8 quake is STILL going to Alaska where there is a foot of rain forecast next two weeks and 5 feet of snow in the mountains.
No rain forecast NW US it’s all going up north like the last few years. Hawaii also erupted again and that plume is going up to the Alaskan and Canadian coast.
80 erupting volcanos last week. Six feet of snow forecast Greenland next two weeks.
Mt Hood Oregon is open for skiing this weekend. It’s been open all summer which is normal. They have ski race training there every summer on the glacier.
NW US just had rain from Kamchatka SO2 the last two days, it was great. Now back to hot and dry with forest fire smoke oh goody.
I read all the comments at IAN since 2012 to the last post in 2021 and all the comments here since IAN went away.
I could scroll back on here and find many times that Kenneth P Lund has commented about the lack of strong hurricanes and provide links then my comment won’t even post.
