Scaling the HSRS for Solar Maximum
Standard Baseline: The integral of the HSRS is scaled to match the TSIS-1 TIM measured TSI from December 1–7, 2019 (the most recent solar minimum), which is 1361.52 W/m².
Representative Value: To represent a solar maximum, researchers typically scale the HSRS by a factor of roughly 1.001. This results in a representative solar maximum value of approximately 1362.8 to 1363.0 W/m².
Try KY MESONET site. It gives you all the info for numerous KY Counties. Try there. I have seen the same…sunny days at Noon have 700 numbers. Not normal even for this time of the year. Have at it !!!
Aloha Cap Alon:
Central Oklahoma – 73ºF+ for the next three days – highly unlikely we will see any snow for Christmas. I could have mistaken your actual ability to report the “weather” but you seem to concentrate on COLDER (as in freezing and below) while Earth itself seems to like Warmer (73ºF in December, 2025). Just keep your eyes open and keep feeling the actual / verifiable temperatures of the places you “report.”
Steven Blue
No look at Ventusky.com at TEMP 18000 feet. Now see the waves? Right next to those DOWN waves are Warmer temps. That is EXACTLT what Cap is trying to teach you. Cold in one are cuz of the polar vortex and warm right next to that wave.
–Article discusses the likely electricity shortfall Europe would face if a winter such as occurred in 1961-62 happened again, where atmospheric blocking brought still, cold winds.
Back then they used conventional power sources for heating. Today, the windmills would not turn and people would freeze.
Particularly stressed is how, rather than just in Germany, large portions of the European continent would simultaneously be under siege and energy sharing between nations would not be an effective strategy.
Putting your trust in the untrustworthy has consequences. Let’s hope they get consequences severe enough to teach them a lesson, but not severe enough to kill them.
The only one of those that I remember was the blizzard of ’93. My N Atlanta (tho ITP) location had about 8″ of snow, power outages and much cold. 20 miles south at the international airport received about half the amount I got. The farther to the north and east, the more snow and cold.
I’d like to keep that as a memory and not have another, thank you.
The year without a summer 35,000 years ago still has me shivering in my mittens.
One Taupo eruption is suggested to be the biggest eruption on planet Earth in 70,000 years. This occurred 25,500 years ago.
NZ is known as the shaky Isles for good reason.
The tectonic plates have a straight line to Tonga.
I live on the stable side of the country by choice.
I could be a year out with my dates and I was not in the country at the time.
Deb honeyest.
I was referencing Taupo, the biggest volcanic eruption on Earth in the last 70,000 years as being a year without a summer. I did mention I was not in the country at the time and other inanities.
That hand gesture has been bugging me. I meant it to refer to hitting the bottle, but it didn’t seem quite right, so I finally googled it. Of course, it means call me. I knew that, but the old noodle isn’t working as well as it used to. That’s okay, it goes with the territory. I don’t plan to live as long as William Shatner.
I was wondering if ‘eggnog’ was a special colloquialism.
Lake Taupo, the volcano caldera, is famous for the sweet, clean flavour of the rainbow trout.
But for the monster world record rainbow trout of 20 to 30 pound weight the Tekapo canal and lake are the go. They were introduced to NZ from Western North America in the 1880s.
Deb, I thought some readers may find this volcano and trout information interesting.
Sweet dreams.
P.S. Dirk Pitt would swallow that big trout whole, maybe.
Muffin-
Take care of yourself. One of us is due for a brain maintenance check. Are you allowed to take vacations? Or do they just move you to another wing?
Well, your lost comments finally came through. You seem marginally more sane. Thanks for the fascinating information on Taupo and the rainbow trout. Happy New Year!
Yes, my deleted comments have come through.
Thank you to Cap.
The link to climate is a huge caldera that sustains tasty trout and glacier water sustaining some of the world’s biggest trout.
I cannot take a vacation Deb. Nice thought though.
Be happy.
Thank you Cap, and gave a nice Christmas!

Yes, I’m sure you’re privy to Top Secret information.🙄
I have top secret contact with a researcher who uses the top secret open access LISIRD database containing the latest TSI data.

I should have known better.
I am looking for more sources of decreasing solar radiation for the last 2 weeks.
Are UV solar activity and SSI UV proxy decreasing?
Is the decrease abnormally large?:

HO HO HO! to Cap and all the EVers.
I’d post a Christmas meme if I could.

1993? I don’t remember it. I think I was in Albuquerque or Phoenix at the time. That was really excellent timing, lol!
