6 Thoughts to “Iceland’s Cold June; Big Freeze Kills At Least 9 In Argentina; Global Temps Nudge Lower In June; + No, Renewables Are Not Taking Over The World”
Cap as usual thanks for the data. In holland were i live they are busy getting all the buildings of the gas and its going marvellous.
there are on gas, coal power plant anymore only wind and solar so regulary holland stand still completely but the government thinks that that is good for us so we are living in a great country witch has no debts at all. It’s going wonderful here. Hope you live likewise in such a good country.
Cap lives in Portugal.
I live in Metcalfe County KY where we use COAL for power…and it is RELIABLE 24/7/365 and with President Trump we are refitting coal power plants to be CLEAN and we will have TONS of POWER!!!!
But California and New York are going the other way and Blackouts are occuring…sucks to be them!!!
If the UAH temperature averages 0.5 degrees for the rest of the year the yearly anomaly will be about 0.24 degrees lower than last year which is a much bigger change either up or down than is seen in many years. Obviously the media will ignore it but if there was a 0.24 degree increase they’d be shouting from the roof tops.
The satellites that measure the temperature of the atmosphere are in low orbits which means there’s a tiny amount of drag on them from the very top of the atmosphere which means their orbit decays. For this reason the readings they give become less accurate over time until they’re pretty inaccurate and readings from a newer satellite have to be used. Accurately correcting for this changes is incredibly hard which is why there’s been various versions of the UAH data set. Drs Spencer and Christy believe that as their knowledge of how to correct for these changes increases each version becomes more accurate than the previous one. All this means there aren’t 15 satellites measuring the temp of the atmosphere although there may well of been 15 in total since measurements started in 1979. Because new satellites used to be launched fairly regularly there used to always be at least 2 or 3 providing accurate measurements. Less have been launched recently so there’s now only one that’s still accurate. Is NASA going to launch more or are they going to let the UAH data set die in perhaps 8 years because it doesn’t fit the narrative and shows much lower anomalies than the heavily adjusted thermometer based data sets?
The massive DEADLY flooding the World is seeing is cuz of Hunga-Tonga. 2 Cubic Miles of rain fell in Texas yesterday killing up to 48 people. Hurricane Helene dumped 3-5 cubic miles of rain and there is more coming DOWN unti the atmosphere is stabilized. Remember colder temps less moisture…
The flooding in central Texas had nothing to do with Hunga-Tonga.
Over the last week a tropical storm hit the Gulf side of Mexico and the mid-level low pressure circulation slid up the coast into central Texas where it became stationary.
At the same time a hurricane formed in the Pacific off the coast of Mexico and moved northward toward the Gulf of Baja where it hit cold water. Both the tropical storm from the Gulf of Mexico and the hurricane ion the Pacific were under the same upper level high pressure so when lower circulation of the hurricane dissipated due to the cold water, the mid-level circulation moved northwestward into Texas where it joined the remaining circulation of the tropical storm. these two systems brought all their deep tropical moisture and associated lift in the atmosphere. This lift center cause the center of the upper-level high presser system to establish itself directly over the combined mid-level circulation of the 2 merged tropical systems.
When you have this type of tropical system come together you get rain-bombs at night, because all the rain consolidated at the center of the circulation. During the day the rain spreads out away from the center. This system was so obvious I warned family members who could likely be under this rain bomb 2days in advance.
The system though weaker was still visible in the satellite images which allow me to tell family members to watch for the first strong thunderstorm to form after 10pm last night. (July 4th TX) A little after 10pm a small thunderstorm developed about 20 miles west of Austin Texas and dropped a rain bomb of 15 inches in five hours. This rain bomb was on the northern water shed of lake Travis which has gone up 13 feet since 7am. Lake Travis is 60 mile long.
You can see the mid-level low pressure system with weakening high pressure still sitting over central Texas as of the sending of this post.
