President Trump is reversing that as we write. He has opened Millions of acres for Oil production. And I want Gasahol GONE! It is food not fuel for cars.
What percent of all US oil refining for petrol would shut down if all oil imports stopped today? How much do US oil refineries rely on imported oil, what total percent? California is shutting down their oil refineries and petrol will be unaffordable, unavailable and raise the price of available refined petrol on the market which will all have to be imported from somewhere. It was such a nice place before the Oil Age, great climate.
Ave temps today in Reykjavik Iceland is 44/34. 45F today it’s been warmer than ave 17 out of 22 days this month but even the average temp is too cold to grow anything. The ave temps on May 22 is only 51F/40F. June 22 ave is 55/46. July 22 ave 57/48. Not easy to grow anything on Iceland.
There is already a glut of US light oil and nowhere to drill new conventional oil, those fields were gone a long time ago. Ya, go drill in Alaska it would take years to get any new oil from that which then has to be shipped which isn’t cheap. The US Cheap Oil Age was over a long time ago that’s why they went offshore GOM, to N Alaska and started fracking. None of which are cheap. US cheap oil made the US Middle Class thems were the good ol days. Can’t even buy small trucks anymore fricking giant monster trucks for $100k nobody can afford. Gas is still $4.70 a gallon here. Ready for a buck a gallon again that would be wonderful.
Ya I never did either we work out in the snow in the Winter and it’s a running joke. Just showing you there are still those who DO and nothing has changed here in the big battle fighting the warmers They didn’t give in a re name Climate Pledge Arena. That bldg is from the Seattle World’s Fair which included the Pacific Science Center. I went the to Fair in ’62 and I can’t believe they renamed the Arena that name. This is a boots on the ground live report from behind enemy lines. This is how THEY still think. That article was front page news here, we just got a new gas tax for climate change. Non ethanol gas is over $5 a gallon. That’s why I have a boat with oars, PPP.
West Coast is LiberalLand, for better or worse (I do like their compassion for animals and desire to farm/eat healthy). For some strange reason, EVERYONE carries their perspective on life to extremes, causing most of the trouble on this planet.
What is PPP short for? Or should I ask?
Prior proper planning. If the grid goes down and there’s no petrol I can use my rowboat to get lots of seafood. I bought the rowboat 14 years ago as a prep, I bought a house where I can do that without driving anywhere in my truck. Guys with the big expensive boats with no oars won’t be able to use them.
My Dad lived close to the Climate Pledge Arena/ Seattle Center in 1920 they came down from Vancouver BC. Grandpa was from London via a sail ship born in 1868. Last name means Norse who landed in Ireland. We don’t choose where we’re born, my daughter still lives in Seattle I’ve had to stay here since she was born.
Most people here West Coast US still believe in climate change because that is all they know since birth. They don’t know anything about solar flares, solar cycles or the weak mag shield. Nothing. They are never going to learn or know anything about them.
It’s still not La Nina, still La Nada. https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/sst/anomaly/ https://origin.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/analysis_monitoring/ensostuff/ONI_v5.php
We still have to import almost half of our oil to make our petrol. Without those oil imports refineries would shut down and there would be very little petrol available at a very high price. The USA is not energy independent Trump’s new plan doesn’t change the amount we have to import but tariffs make it more expensive.
If the USA stopped buying so much oil from Canada, (about half) the balance of payments would be zero. No need for tariffs because trade would be equalized.
The US can make up the difference by drilling locally and importing from Venezuela.

Dreamer!
I’m ready for it but it’s not going to happen because the Cheap Oil Age ended a long time ago. How much do US refineries rely on oil imports, what percent?
Out here NW US they still believe in climate change and the Easter Bunny.
