They would help get me through Winter if the grid goes down. One turnip let go to seed has a thousand little seeds!! I save them from the year before and broadcast seed them in with the spuds. in an 8’X8′ raised bed I made for free. Free food that lasts through Winter it’s one thing I CAN grow here. Bell peppers won’t Cabbage won’t broc doesn’t, no on sweet potatos carrots won’t grow here or onions. Canalope does not grow here. All those were failed experiments many times. Beet grow so I grow them. Turnips grow here so I grow them.
I also have poor topsoil here with the shade . I bought one yard of topsoil for $48 bucks, it took $25 in gas to go get the dirt in my truck.
I made 3 raised beds with scrap lumber, minimal cost survival gardening. I already have enough planted to feed me and give food to neighbors which I do all the time because they don’t have gardens. I also bring them fresh smoked salmon because they don’t fish. I still have salmon in the freezer from last year and zuke for zuke bread and gallons of blackberries from my yard. Stomp in once and next plant. 3 feet on center for miles days weeks years. $5 bucks an hour in the rain and snow and mud.

42F ‘ere this morning, I bring my Zuke starts in the house at night and put them under a lamp. There out in my car now the warmest place in the yard. I got 14 out of 17 seeds to sprout which is great for May. All my sugar snap peas and pole beans are up, lots of turnips and spuds. All systems go here. 😎

Yaaaa. They are good raw sliced thin with a little salt. Used to eat them like that in Hawaii. The greens are good too. I put turnips in beef stew it’s not as good without them. Turnips grow here where as most veggies won’t there is not enough Sun from all the trees. Turnips stay good in the ground through Winter without processing. They would help get me through Winter if the grid goes down. One turnip let go to seed has a thousand little seeds!! I save them from the year before and broadcast seed them in with the spuds. in an 8’X8′ raised bed I made for free. Free food that lasts through Winter it’s one thing I CAN grow here. Bell peppers won’t Cabbage won’t broc doesn’t, no on sweet potatos carrots won’t grow here or onions. Canalope does not grow here. All those were failed experiments many times. Beet grow so I grow them. Turnips grow here so I grow them.
I also have poor topsoil here with the shade . I bought one yard of topsoil for $48 bucks, it took $25 in gas to go get the dirt in my truck.
I made 3 raised beds with scrap lumber, minimal cost survival gardening. I already have enough planted to feed me and give food to neighbors which I do all the time because they don’t have gardens. I also bring them fresh smoked salmon because they don’t fish. I still have salmon in the freezer from last year and zuke for zuke bread and gallons of blackberries from my yard. Free food all Winter and still have enough to get into Summer harvests!!! I got oysters yesterday at 8am low tide and watched Bald Eagles flying about the area. Great day!!!
This is a Pink Salmon year they arrive every other year by the millions!! We used to can Pink Salmon when I was a kid back in the 50s and grow organic veggies and can them too. Get the garden growing and go fish.
We use acres of Visqueen and sandbags on ropes here to keep dirt dry so we can work on it and it doesn’t all wash away. Mandatory erosion control.
The wind blows up all up in the Winter and we have to redo it all in the mud when it’s snowing. It’s mandatory erosion control working on Interstate Freeway jobs and Schools with new ball fields all covered with acres of Visqueen and sandbags on ropes. Every year in the mud and snow and rain. If mud goes into the system you get big fines and everybody gets fired. We used to build greenhouses for nurseries out of PVC and Visqueen, full size production commercial landscape hundreds of thousands of plants $5 bucks an hour. I can plant one gallon plants every three seconds like a waltz. Put the shovel on the far side of the plant and push forwards shove plant in hole. Stomp in once and next plant. 3 feet on center for miles days weeks years. $5 bucks an hour in the rain and snow and mud.
YouTube’s TV channel search engine added “And More” to categories that AI selects. “And more” means they put anything they want on the category selected not in the same category. Random crap. My wild edibles are doing fine. I don’t have any other garden. If I can get outside at all, I try to clean up my yard. The trees alone make a big mess every year.

We have wild Sea Cucumbers that are related to Starfish. They have 5 strips of meat inside about the size of a strip of bacon.
I used to get them scuba diving a lot and smoke the strips with teriyaki and have bags of those in the fridge to snack on. Best flavor kinda like octopus but different.

Ya only 4 months till shroom season I still have plenty in the freezer I fry up with oysters all the time. The flavor is so good omg. 2006 we installed 22 miles of 42 inch natural gas pipeline in 14 weeks. The pipeline doubled the US West Coast NG supply. The NG comes from Canada we started at the Canadian border fence South of Vancouver BC. I ran a bulldozer.
We should put in 4 more NG pipelines in ASAP. I would go back to work to install the pipelines right now I am 100% ready to rock and roll.
We could also put in new oil pipelines in from Canada off their new Trans Mountain Pipeline to Vancouver at the same time in the same dang ditch.

If I want to go back to work I’d go to the Seattle Union Hall and see how many people are on the “list” or go drive around and find the biggest project I could find and try to get on that. Not moving out of State. Get on another Seattle Light Rail Project that’s the only thing going here. Build electric trains in the snow to fight global warming. Get a job at Microsoft it’s an industry in itself building up there.
