And yes, smaller harvests raise prices. World grain production is still doing fine with high yields.

During the Little Ice Age (1300-1870 AD), reliance on grains led to the death of millions in Europe. Now we have a different problem. They cause obesity and combined with the poison Monsanto adds to their seed, they are deadly.

I’ve been snowed in since that 8″ snowstorm, whenever that was. Then I just got disappointed by a family member. That’s not terribly unusual, but the timing is bad. Our current temperatures here in Raglan, NZ, are peeking at 77 degrees Fahrenheit and dropping to a perfect for sleeping 58 degrees Fahrenheit in pre dawn.
This is the hottest time of the year but some years it gets up to a sweltering 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Winter is where we really pay for it though. In winter we get three or four days where we have morning ice on our wind shields, possibly a couple of degrees below zero.
I hope that now you know I am not suffering too much offers you a little encouragement.

Outside of that big sunspot, the Sun is relatively quiet. What we may be seeing is the last hurrah of a Sun about to plunge into the “Eddy” Grand Solar Minimum. If models are right, we could be heading into a cold spell that could rival The Little Ice Age (cir. 1300-1870 CE).
As long as we don’t have a Carrington event as a send-off, we should be able to handle it a lot easier than the people of the Middle Ages. I’ll just have my robot cut some more wood.
