Gobsmacking historic cold!! That is a unique weather forecast I have not seen before. We have been warned! I started wearing a lined vest to help keep me warm. I now have three of them. Perhaps a useful fashion statement? They do come in different colors. 🙂
Umm 20/30s F in midwest is not gobsmacking cold. A little overstated considering wi had a very warm fall season. Headline could just read, winter is coming,
To me this is just the normal seasonal change, last year came a few weeks early i was ice fishing on 5 inches of solid ice by december 10th, 2025. Called seasons for a reasons. Hahaha
The issue is how far south this polar air is expected to plunge, not that it’s cold in Wisconsin this time of year. In East Tennessee nighttime lows average around 39°-40°, not 22°-25°. We still have plenty of flowers blooming and tomatoes on the vine.
For Southern KY at this time of the year…hell anytime of the year…HELL YES 20F IS GOBSMACKING COLD!
The last time it got this cold it was 1993 and we got down to -24F on our porch on the ridge…the house in the Valley most likely hit -30F!!!
Hello Debs. The anagram was unintentional but some truths are inescapable.
Here is a global Mean Surface Pressure map that shows a number of low pressure systems lining up to give the British a blow-hard drenching. Lows all the way to Japan.
I did not lock my key inside. The lock stopped working. My brother sprayed it with silicone and we got it working, but it was still hanging up a bit, so I quit locking it and bought a new doorknob, which is going on tomorrow.
I always carry an extra set of keys with me.
I certainly hope you’re not going to channel Dirk in the meteorology department!
Deb. I got all that about your door lock the first time. I am just saying, have a hidden key nearby to cover unforeseen contingencies. Not under a rock next to the door.
To mitigate what they used to call ‘Murphy’s Law’.
On the global weather map, getting to understand these basics is essential.
Dirk introduced me to this animated graphic, another basic essential, especially when combined with a good Global Oceanic Current chart. https://coralreefwatch.noaa.gov/data_current/5km/v3.1_op/animation/gif/ssta_animation_90day_large.gif
Gotta go. NZ against Scotland has just kicked off. Rugby.
Moffin-
Since you’re such a uniquely round-headed person, I feel the impulse to share with you the song that has been my theme song since around age 13.
I always had a gypsy/hobo mentality. I played this song over and over at my birthday party. I finally lived my dream and lived on the road as a “rubber hobo” in my van when I was around 50.
Nowadays, I can’t run and I can’t hide, because I have trouble walking. But I have my memories!
That would also account for the hairstyle and dress being “off”. I was beginning to suspect that you used AI to create the video. You might say I was a suspicious observer before Ben was born.
How come this header is moving and the last one like this is static?
Well so much for “kids just won’t know what fall feels like” and “snow is a thing of the past” LOL
🤪

Oh for Pete’s sake!
I don’t know how to deal with you when you get like this, lol! 🤪🤪🤪

Spain hit by MORE horror floods as vids show streets submerged & people running for cover as storm sparks flight chaos
More to come yet, and for the British Iles.
Was that anagram intentional?
I see you made it out from under the carpet. I’m trying to keep the Spinkster occupied.
We used to get flooded out every spring in one place we lived when I was a kid. I’ve been careful all my life to choose high ground.

I hope you have a spare house key hidden for when you lock yours inside.

Moffin, I know a runaway when I see one. But you’re entitled. The Lord knows, I take my turns and then some!

Oops! Wrong song! Must’ve been a popular theme back then.

I remember the song. I see his guitar is a Gibson E335.
Your song made me think of Helen Shapiro and by jolly, her song came out in 1961, also.

Funny, I don’t remember that song. Maybe the lyrics didn’t speak to me then. They do now.
The song came out of England so may not have got airtime over your way.
That would also account for the hairstyle and dress being “off”. I was beginning to suspect that you used AI to create the video. You might say I was a suspicious observer before Ben was born.
I was thinking of nicknaming you “Steadfast” but it sounds too much like the name you’d give a racehorse, lol. 😊🐎
I feel bad for the German citizens who did not vote for Net-Zero-Madness politicians. The ones that did? Suffer and pay the high electricity bill.
You get the government you vote for.
I wish that were true.
