14 Thoughts to “Snow Hits Morocco’s High Atlas; Cosmic Rays Ground A320 Fleet; + Nature Retracts ‘Catastrophic Climate Costs’ Paper After Major Errors Exposed”
Take care of your family first, Cap. We will be around when you get back.

How could such an “influential” yet flawed paper get published accidently? And then conveniently be used to bolster (repair?) the already fracturing climate industry?
I call it a planned “emergency” scam from the get-go. Fracture a key data set, thereby wildly skewing the entire results to indicate expensive emergency measures must be enacted. Once these measures have been unalterably instituted, they say “Oops, we made a mistake. So sorry.”
I check in with this author occasionally. As the title indicates, she says the New York state climate machine is fracturing. But I figure there is enough political inertia to keep it all running for a few more years. Or perhaps less, if there is a favorable outcome in the New York state election for governor next year.
CO2 is not toxic.
New York’s biggest problems are lead and PFAS.
Leaded gasoline caused many health problems and was banned because it was toxic:
Lead was banned from automobile fuel in 1996. The study, published Wednesday in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, looked at its lasting impact in the U.S. by analyzing childhood blood lead levels from 1940 to 2015. According to the findings, the national population experienced an estimated 151 million excess mental health disorders attributable to exposure to lead from car exhaust during children’s early development.
30% of New York City’s drinking water pipes contain lead that leaks into the drinking water:
“An estimated 30% of pipes delivering water to New York City buildings may have lead – and now there’s a map to help determine if your building is affected. The New York League of Conservation Voters created the map using Department of Environmental Protection data. It shows there are 124,197 lead pipes in the city and 571,351 lines that do not contain lead. There’s also 124,917 pipes that could contain lead.”
Lead In New York City’s Drinking Water.
Lead enters tap water through old lead service pipes and lead-containing plumbing. Currently, 10% of the water quality samples analyzed by New York City Environmental Protection had lead concentrations over 12 parts per billion (ppb). The highest lead concentration detected from a residential tap was 152 ppb.
Over 1.3 million people in New York have PFAS in their drinking water:
Eliminating federal limits in drinking water on the toxic “forever chemicals” known as PFAS could end a vital safeguard against continued pollution for 1.3 million New Yorkers.
PFAS are linked to a number of serious health harms, including impaired immune system response, liver and kidney damage, hormone disruption, developmental and reproductive issues and several types of cancer.
An estimated 189 New York drinking water systems, serving over 1.3 million people, have had PFOA and PFOS at levels ranging from 4 ppt and 10 ppt between 2023 and 2024.
